"Traveling with Love and Wisdom for Seventy Years"

Exhibition Series of Images of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and

Tibetan Religion and Culture.

  • Introduction

July 6th 2005 is the seventieth birthday of Tibet's Spiritual and Temporal Leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is viewed among the world leaders as a symbol of peace and wisdom. He was awarded the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize for His effort in promoting peace and non-violence not only in Tibet but for the whole world. This year marks His seventieth birthday, and the Tibet Religious foundation of H.H. the Dalai Lama wishes to uphold the event of “Traveling with Love and Wisdom for Seventy Years - Exhibition Series of Images of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetan Religion and Culture.” Besides introducing to the public the spirit of Love and altruism that His Holiness the Dalai Lama upholds, the public will also be guided to get to know the nature and beauty of Tibetan culture.

Time: July 6, 2005to August 7, 2005 (30 days)

Location: CKS Memorial Hall’s Reiyuan Hall, Chi-Ching Hall, Huai-En Art `Gallery, speech hall

4. Event Orientation:

Through these series of event - our main objective is to make people understandand also to create a deeper awareness on His Holiness the Dalai Lama's philosophy of Love, Kindness and Compassion among the humanity. It is also to create the public to understand more about the nature, depth and beauty of Tibet's Religion and Culture.

6.Features of Event & Exhibition

Time:July 6, 2005 to August 7, 2005

Venue : CKS Memorial Hall

(1)Exhibition of Images of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Cultural artifacts

Over 100 photographs and documentaries of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be exhibited. The cultural items and manuscripts that will be shown in Taiwan for the first time, along with H.H. the Dalai Lama’s autobiographies and stories, will enable the audience to get closer to the thoughts, love, altruism, and perfect wisdom of His Holiness.

(2)Miniature of Tibetan Artifacts:

About ten sets of intriguing miniatures that depict Tibetan life and culture will be exhibited in Taiwan for the very first time.

(3)Making of the color sand Mandala.

Expert Tibetan Monks will conduct an animated display of the making color Sand Mandala of the Buddha of Compassion“Thousand Arms and thousand eyes" The sand Mandala will be demolished after the event, and the holy sand will be put in small bottles that will be given to the audience.

(4)Exhibition of Thanka and Metok Choe-pa

Thanka of different styles and types will be shown. Its unique representation of art, culture, and religion will be completely manifested. Metok Choe-pa is Tibetan word meaning Ritual Flower hand made by color butter.

(5)Important Writings by H.H. the Dalai Lama

The most representative writings by the H.H. the Dalai Lama will be exhibited with captions, the audience will further understand H.H. the Dalai Lama’s thoughts and philosophy.

7.Lectures on Tibetan Culture and Religion

Experts and media representatives who have extensive knowledge and understanding on Tibetan culture and religion will be invited to give speeches on Tibetan history, religion, and culture.

The venue for all above talks will be at Speech hall of CKS Memorial Hall.

8.Dharma teaching

The famous Buddhist Religious Teacher Ven. Arjia Rinpoche from United State will be invited to talk about Buddhism to allow the public to understand the rich content of Tibetan Buddhism, and also to extend and spread the religious teachings.

9.Film and documentary:

Seven Years in Tibet by Heninrich Harrer who is a well-known Austrian

Mountain-climber of the 30s. Harrer and his friend Peter have a two-year

journey across northern India and eventually arrive in Tibet. In disguise,

they are befriended and later Harrer is summoned by His Holiness the Dalai

Lama to teach him about the West.

Date: July 6, 2005 and July 13, 2005

10.Documentary film:

11.Traditional Tibetan Songs and Music

Ms. Chukei Tethong a former member of Tibetan Institute of Performing

Arts will perform Tibetan traditional songs and music.
